Cornwall is justly famous for its coastline. Whether you're into swimming, sunbathing, surfing, exploring rock pools or sight-seeing, we've come up with a few suggestions to get you exploring.

Make sure you contact the Tourist Information Centre (01637 854020) or the beach/attraction itself to check opening times and directions.

Towan Beach (Newquay)
Close to the centre of Newquay at the bottom of Beach Road, just around the headland from Fistral, often referred to as "Town Beach". Very busy during the summer and a favourite with families owing to ease of access, rock pools and paddling pool at the foot of the island. Toilets and refreshments available, parking in town, lifeguard during the summer months.
Fistral Beach (Newquay)
One of Newquay’s biggest town beaches and world famous for the many national and international surfing championships it hosts. Catches the best of the swell. Facilities include beach cafes, toilets, and lifeguards. Dogs allowed all year round.
Watergate Bay (1m from Newquay)
A private beach specialising in kite-surfing and offering excellent surfing and facilities. Dominated by the Extreme Academy, with restaurant, toilets, and lifeguards.

Porth Beach (2m from Newquay)
A small sandy cove – excellent for anyone with walking difficulties or families with pushchairs owing to its car park on the beach and level access. Can get crowded in high season. Toilets and refreshments available but dogs not permitted during summer.
Crantock Beach (4m from Newquay)
A wide stretch of golden sand backed by tufted dunes, offering perfect picnic hollows at high tide or on a breezy day. Toilets and refreshments are available and dogs allowed.
Bedruthan Steps (Carnewas, 7.5m from Newquay)
(Open all year, café open summer daily 10am to 5pm)
Spectacular clifftop views above Bedruthan beach. Cliff staircase down to the beach recently rebuilt by the National Trust. Lovely tea-room and garden in Carnewas car park overlooking Bedruthan Steps, offering exceptional cream teas! Beach not safe for bathing.

Land’s End (Sennen, 42m from Newquay)
(Attractions open daily from 10am except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)
A beautiful, dramatic setting, plus plenty of undercover attractions for the family including shopping village and Discovery Trail. ** An all-weather attraction **
