St Michael’s Mount
(Summer: open daily except Sat & Sun. Times: 10.30am to 5.30pm, last admission 4.45pm. Castle and gardens are open most weekends during the season for special functions.)
Dramatic castle on top of a famous rocky island, approached by a causeway at low tide and ferry boats at high tide. Dating from the 12th century. Magnificent views towards Land’s End and The Lizard.

Tintagel Castle
(Open: approx 10am to 6pm although closing time varies during the year)
Gaunt remains of a medieval castle spectacularly located on the clifftops, joined to the mainland by a narrow neck of land. Long associated with King Arthur, Tintagel remains a place of legend.

Lanhydrock House
(House: open daily 11am to 5.30pm except Mon. Garden: open daily 10am to 6pm)
Fascinating late 19th-century house, full of period atmosphere and the trappings of a high Victorian country house, plus gardens filled with magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias, and glorious 900 acre woodland and parkland estate, with extensive network of footpaths.

Restormel Castle
(Open: summer 10am to 6pm)
Surrounded by a deep moat and perched on a high mound, the huge circular keep of this Norman castle survives in remarkable condition. Once home to Edward, the Black Prince, it offers splendid views over the surrounding countryside – perfect for picnicking.
